Skin Design London Debuts First At-Home Beauty Tech Device
Skin Design London founder Fatma Shaheen has introduced the SDL Tighten Boost, an at-home beauty device featuring multi-wavelength LED and microcurrent.
Skin Design London founder and clinical director Fatma Shaheen could write volumes about what she has learned about skin from decades of treating high-profile clients like Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Instead, Shaheen condensed her clinical expertise into the SDL Tighten Boost, the brand’s first beauty-tech device.
“This is my book,” she quipped. “First because my journey has been built around technology-led, quick but long-lasting transformation using clinic devices; and second because it condenses 18 years of methods into five modes—my ‘chapters’ on the ways I treat skin.”
Positioned as an at-home extension of Shaheen’s high-performance, low-irritation skincare portfolio, the device took two years to develop and is designed to enhance existing daily routines. The launch aligns with a broader movement across prestige beauty to bring clinic-grade delivery systems into consumer routines, similar to how luxury formulas like Westman Atelier's Suprême Bio-Complex Liquid Foundation leverage advanced active encapsulation for high-performance skin benefits.
The device incorporates four distinct LED wavelengths alongside radiofrequency, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), microcurrent, and electroporation. The technologies are built on Shaheen's proprietary Dermal Matrix Tech system, which was initially developed for clinic treatments before being validated for direct cosmetic consumer use.
Sequenced to work in tandem, the device features a five-minute quick mode for rapid skin preparation and a comprehensive 30-minute full protocol intended for daily use.
“The tech is designed to deliver that instantly because we’re just also impatient — and not just because of the way the world is,” Shaheen explained. “Everyone wants transformation today, but the most important thing is that you’re laying the right foundation for a continuous transformation that is consistent and daily. There are no shortcuts.”
Priced at £1,250, the SDL Tighten Boost launches exclusively at Harrods and on Skin Design London’s direct-to-consumer platform. The device is currently undergoing medical-grade FDA clearance ahead of its planned expansion into the U.S. market later this year.
