AKT London Launches Final Crowdfunding Round to Support Global Body Care Expansion

Personal care brand AKT London has launched a new crowdfunding campaign, offering its community the opportunity to buy equity in the company and participate in its next stage of commercial growth.

Pre-registration for the campaign opened ahead of the official launch, drawing more than 1,000 sign-ups within the first 24 hours.

“When we founded AKT London, we were West End performers solving a problem we experienced every day. We had no background in beauty, retail or fundraising - just a belief that performance deserved better bodycare,” said co-founders Andy Coxon and Ed Currie. “That belief has grown into a global, award-winning brand, with more than two million products sold, an internationally recognised bodycare range, launches in Sephora US and Space NK UK, and a community that has supported us every step of the journey. Today, we’re excited to announce the next chapter as we enter a new AKT.”

The founders have dubbed the crowdfunding round their “Final Encore,” stating they do not plan to offer another community investment round. If completed as scheduled, the campaign will mark the final opportunity for public investors and consumers to acquire equity in the business through a community funding round.

Currie and Coxon first met in 2015 while performing in a London West End production. Struggling to find natural deodorants that could withstand the intense physical demands of performing on stage, they spent three years developing and testing formulations with friends and cast members.

AKT officially launched in 2020 with a grassroots campaign centered on the theater community, distributing samples to performers and backstage crews across London's West End. The strategy established the brand's initial customer base and forged a connection to the performing arts community that remains central to its identity.

AKT products are now featured in UK theater productions as well as on film and television sets internationally. The brand has also expanded across the U.S., establishing a presence on Broadway in New York.

The fundraising initiative comes as AKT maintains rapid sales momentum, averaging one product sold every 30 seconds. The brand also expanded its retail distribution earlier this year through premium beauty retailer Space NK, underscoring broader momentum in British beauty retail similar to how CeraVe is scaling dermatologist-led skincare in the UK market.
