Global Buyers and Innovative Packaging Take Center Stage at iPDF 2026
At the 2026 iPDF exhibition, Chinese beauty packaging suppliers showcase eco-friendly innovations and custom designs to capture surging global demand.
July 2, 2026, marked the second day of the 3rd iPDF International Future Packaging Exhibition. Despite occasional heavy rain outside the venue, the enthusiasm of professional buyers remained high. The exhibition halls saw steady foot traffic, busy booths, and active negotiations. China Cosmetics walked the exhibition floor to capture the real pulse of this major industry event.
Why It Matters
For global beauty brands and sourcing executives, Chinese packaging manufacturers are rapidly moving up the value chain. No longer just low-cost suppliers, these companies are investing heavily in patented designs, high-end aesthetics, and sustainable materials like PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastics and aluminum to meet strict international regulatory standards and eco-conscious consumer demands.
Steady Foot Traffic and Precise Buyer Matching
By mid-morning, long queues had formed at the entrance as professional buyers filed into the halls, quickly crowding the exhibition booths.
At the booth of Wuxi Shengma Holding (Shengma), staff members were busy introducing products to buyers. As a packaging manufacturer that exports 80% of its production, Shengma has participated in iPDF for three consecutive years and praised the event's professional focus. "The buyers who came this year have much more precise needs, and the matching rate is better than last year," a Shengma representative noted. "iPDF is highly focused and vertical, which makes for a much better sourcing experience."
Shengma established its export infrastructure early on and has long participated in international trade shows, maintaining a mature and stable global supply chain.
Zhejiang Zhengzhuang Industrial (Zhengzhuang) also reported strong traffic. "This year is even better than last, with improvements in both our brand presentation and overall foot traffic," said Zhengzhuang's representative, noting that the booth was packed from the moment the doors opened.
At the booth of Huai'an Yongxi Metal Products (Yongxi), all-aluminum lipstick tubes and cream containers drew significant attention. "Business has been good this year. We have more visitors and a lot of high-intent buyers," said Yongxi's representative.
As an aluminum components supplier, Yongxi offers products that are relatively rare in the exhibition hall. The lightweight, eco-friendly nature of aluminum made many buyers stop to examine the samples. "It's so light—even lighter than plastic," one female buyer remarked. "Personally, I prefer lightweight packaging."
International buyer delegations were highly visible throughout the venue. Sourcing professionals from South Korea, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia bustled between booths, discussing product details, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and delivery cycles. A representative from Zhengzhuang observed, "We've seen a noticeable increase in overseas buyers this year. They come with very specific requirements, which makes negotiations highly efficient."
Innovation and Product Differentiation Take Center Stage
Exhibitors showcased their latest innovations, ranging from novel materials and advanced manufacturing processes to unique structural designs.
Guangdong Shengwei Glass Technology (Shengwei) attracted crowds with its patented rotary-switch pump head. The representative demonstrated how a simple twist opens and closes the pump, eliminating the need for traditional protective caps. "It's easier to use and has a much sleeker design," she explained.
As a mid-to-high-end glass packaging manufacturer with its own glass factory, Shengwei has a clear market position. Its booth displayed an array of finely crafted serum and cream bottles ranging from 20ml to over 30ml. To meet the growing market demand for travel sizes and deluxe samples, the company plans to add five new production lines this year dedicated to 10ml and 15ml glass bottles.
Zhengzhuang's fine-mist spray pump also drew significant interest. The pump delivers an ultra-fine mist suitable for setting sprays and toners, yet is priced at a fraction of major domestic competitors. "The misting effect is excellent," the representative demonstrated, emphasizing that fine-mist performance is critical for makeup setting products.
At the booth of Essel (Guangzhou) Packaging (Essel), a subtle fragrance filled the air. The company showcased its scented tubes, which feature a natural aroma—such as lavender or rose—embedded directly into the packaging material. "The scent is released from within the material when rubbed," the representative explained.
Another highlight was Essel's "sparkling" sheet material, where glitter particles are embedded inside the plastic so they do not rub off. However, the representative noted that these specialized processes carry a higher defect rate during manufacturing. "If a client orders 10,000 units, we actually have to prepare raw materials and labor for 20,000 units to ensure full delivery," he said, advising clients that larger order volumes are highly recommended for such custom designs.
Fujian Kaida Group (Kaida) created a unique visual display by showcasing food packaging alongside personal care packaging. Biscuit bags, sunscreen pouches, and sheet mask sachets were neatly arranged. A PCR flexible packaging option caught the eye of several buyers. "We want to make a memorable impression," Kaida's representative smiled. He showcased a retail-sized flexible pouch designed for the sunscreen of Chinese skincare brand Dafuyan, challenging the traditional perception that pouches are only used for samples.
Other notable innovations on display included sustainable spray pumps and all-plastic recyclable foam pumps from Guangdong Nete Packaging, as well as dual-orifice spray pumps from Guangzhou Ligo Plastic Products.
Sustainability Deepens from Concept to Purchase Orders
Throughout the exhibition, sustainability was clearly more than just a marketing buzzword; it has become a core driver in product development and purchasing decisions.
Yongxi's all-aluminum products align closely with this trend. "Clients are increasingly demanding eco-friendly materials, and aluminum is highly recyclable," said Yongxi's representative, noting a significant increase in inquiries and orders driven by green concepts.
Essel is also focusing heavily on plastic reduction. "Many of our clients are deeply committed to reducing plastic use," said Essel's representative, adding that international clients are often further ahead in this transition. "We already have many overseas clients adopting recycled materials, starting with components like bottle caps."
Kaida has invested in eco-friendly product lines for the long term. "We produce PCR packaging because many international markets offer tax incentives for recycled materials," Kaida's representative explained. "While it is not always legally mandated abroad, the tax benefits make clients highly willing to choose PCR to lower their overall costs."
Zhengzhuang's management observed this trend from a broader market perspective. "PCR has become a standard option for export packaging," they noted, though they admitted that cost remains a challenge. "Virgin plastic costs around 10,000 RMB per ton, while PCR is about 14,000 RMB per ton. Cost is still the main hurdle for mass adoption."
Shengwei also pointed out shifting material requirements in export markets. "Export products increasingly require ABS-free materials, making PP a much better fit for regulatory compliance." This shift is prompting manufacturers to adjust their product lines to meet different regional import standards.
Balancing Domestic and Global Markets
Exhibitors highlighted distinct differences in operational dynamics between domestic and international clients.
With 80% of its business coming from exports, Shengma represents a successful balance between domestic and global markets. "Overseas clients offer larger order volumes, stable profit margins, reliable payment terms, and a more manageable pace," Shengma's representative summarized. International orders typically allow for generous production windows, with clients placing orders and paying deposits months in advance. "In contrast, domestic clients often demand delivery within three to five days, which creates intense pressure."
Kaida has successfully grown its export share from 25% to 35%. Its expansion into the Russian market has been particularly lucrative, with order volumes and margins significantly higher than domestic averages. "Over the past two years, export orders have helped offset shrinking margins domestically," Kaida's representative stated. However, the company remains committed to the domestic market, adopting a selective approach by partnering with major established brands like Liby.
Zhengzhuang observed that while domestic clients have slowed down their investments in new product development due to economic pressures, major Western clients continue to launch new products steadily. "The packaging trends in Europe and the U.S. lean toward clean, practical, and highly aesthetic designs," the representative noted.
Professional Synergy and Industry Exchange
Over the course of the exhibition, iPDF served as both an efficient business matchmaking platform and a vital hub for industry professionals to share market intelligence.
"This exhibition is highly professional. Because it is focused entirely on packaging, sourcing here is incredibly efficient," several exhibitors noted. Unlike broad, multi-category trade shows, iPDF’s dedicated focus on beauty packaging allows buyers and suppliers to connect with minimal friction. This targeted environment proved highly effective, as the 2026 iPDF concluded with a surge in global buyers targeting Chinese beauty suppliers looking for high-quality, sustainable packaging solutions.
Whether overseas buyers were seeking advanced PCR designs or domestic brands were hunting for differentiated packaging, the exhibition provided a vital gateway for collaboration, injecting fresh energy and confidence into the global beauty supply chain.
