AI and Smart Design Take Center Stage at 2026 iPDF
At the 2026 iPDF exhibition in Guangzhou, beauty packaging suppliers showcased AI-driven design, sustainable glass, and functional plastic solutions.
The 2026 iPDF International Future Packaging Exhibition opened at the Guangzhou Airport Expo Center from July 1 to 3. The event brought together cutting-edge packaging materials and creative designs, drawing global buyers, brand R&D directors, and cross-border e-commerce teams. This influx of international interest highlights how global buyers are targeting Chinese beauty suppliers to secure advanced manufacturing capabilities. The exhibition featured over 20 industry events, including three major packaging forums, five cross-border export sessions, nine product launches, three award ceremonies, and six buyer matchmaking sessions, covering the entire supply chain from design and R&D to production and global distribution.
Why it matters: As global beauty brands face pressure to innovate rapidly while meeting strict sustainability standards, Chinese packaging manufacturers are pivoting from low-cost production to high-tech, AI-driven, and eco-friendly solutions.
The plastic packaging zone was the largest segment of the exhibition. Over a hundred companies, including Essel, Zhengzhuang, Zhengsheng Technology, and Nite Packaging, showcased a comprehensive range of injection-molded containers, blow-molded bottles, tubes, and pump heads. At the Essel booth, crowds gathered to experience a dual-chamber serum tube featuring "fresh-locking" technology that isolates active ingredients until use. "Functional packaging is becoming the second core competitive edge for skincare brands," noted a brand R&D director at the scene.
Nearby, the glass packaging zone focused on balancing aesthetics with sustainability. At the booth of Guangdong Shengwei Glass Technology Co., Ltd., a sleek, smooth perfume bottle gleamed under the lights, drawing inquiries from multiple buyers. "This year's turnout is even stronger than last year," said the sales manager. "Original packaging design is our key differentiator. We partner with major Chinese beauty brands like Pien Tze Huang, Adolf, and Carslan."
The paper and flexible packaging zone highlighted creative solutions like gift boxes and biodegradable paper-molded products, demonstrating viable plastic-alternative materials. In the metal packaging zone, companies like Anomatic and Dongfang Technology presented aluminum aerosol cans and metal closures, offering premium, high-barrier options for high-end cosmetics. Specialty accessory zones covered inks, machinery, testing, and logistics, completing the industry's end-to-end ecosystem.
Notably, artificial intelligence emerged as a major highlight of the exhibition, reshaping every step of the cosmetics packaging lifecycle from design to supply chain management. Guangzhou Leno Bird Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. showcased an AI-driven digital solution for packaging development, demonstrating how AI can reduce costs and boost efficiency in design, prototyping, and supply chain coordination. Meanwhile, Guangzhou Yusu Packaging Products Co., Ltd. drew attention with its slogan: "A packaging manufacturer driven by big data R&D." By leveraging web-scraping data collection and smart algorithms, Yusu has built an AI-powered R&D system. "We don't just manufacture packaging," a Yusu representative explained to buyers. "We use data to help brands precisely target market demands."
