JD.com Targets Global Beauty Brands at Cosmoprof North America
JD.com's cross-border unit pitched international beauty brands at Cosmoprof North America, offering direct access to Chinese consumers.
JINGDONG Cross-Border, the import business unit of Chinese e-commerce provider JD.com, joined Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas to connect with international beauty brands seeking expansion in China’s evolving consumer market.
Held from July 13 to 15 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the annual B2B trade exhibition brought together more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 26,000 retailers, distributors, investors, and beauty industry professionals from 103 countries.
China remains a major growth destination for global personal care companies, supported by steady consumer demand for premium imported formulations, innovative ingredients, and established international labels. Through JINGDONG Cross-Border, overseas merchants can sell directly to hundreds of millions of consumers in China without establishing a domestic legal entity, utilizing JD.com’s logistics infrastructure and cross-border customs solutions.
Today, JINGDONG Cross-Border hosts products from more than 20,000 brands across 100 countries and regions. The platform provides integrated merchandising, international fulfillment, localized digital marketing, and customer support to simplify cross-border retail operations.
During the event, a representative from JINGDONG Cross-Border North America spoke on a CosmoTalks panel titled “Packaging That Sells: Designing for Shelf, Scroll, and Speed,” alongside Olaplex CEO Amanda Baldwin.
Drawing on JD.com’s retail analytics and supply chain capabilities, the spokesperson highlighted how packaging design drives product discovery on digital platforms, builds multi-channel brand recognition, and supports fast-moving distribution in an environment where small-batch demand pressure squeezes margins for beauty manufacturers.
The panel discussed how optimized product presentation, supply chain readiness, and tailored consumer communications combine to improve conversion rates in China’s competitive e-commerce sector. During the three-day exhibition, the JINGDONG Cross-Border team conducted direct business meetings with approximately 270 beauty and personal care brands from North America, Japan, South Korea, and Europe.
These discussions focused on market entry strategies, Chinese consumer preferences, and cross-border regulatory compliance. The platform's pitch comes at a time when overseas brands seek sustainable Asian growth, while Chinese beauty leaders outline global strategies of their own.
By integrating retail operations, nationwide warehousing, and localized brand marketing, JINGDONG Cross-Border aims to help international beauty brands accelerate their go-to-market timelines and establish a lasting presence in China.
