Revolution Beauty Eyes Recovery After Turnaround Plan Beats Expectations
Revolution Beauty reports improving sales and early turnaround success, though high debt continues to weigh on investor confidence.
British cosmetics group Revolution Beauty announced that trading improved in its fiscal second quarter, driven by a turnaround plan that helped the company beat its own expectations during the first three months of fiscal 2027.
However, the company's shares fell 8.2% in volatile trading as investors weighed the positive update against a steep full-year loss and a debt load equal to nearly half of its market value.
The company reported an adjusted core loss of £8.2 million ($11.03 million) for the fiscal year ended February 28, 2026, compared to an adjusted core profit of £4.7 million the previous year, following a 28% drop in sales. Shares fell by as much as 13.1% to 5.3 pence in London trading, despite briefly logging gains of up to 3.6% earlier in the day.
"The company still carries a relatively high level of debt versus its market cap," said Rachel Birkett, an analyst at Zeus Capital. She noted that investors remain highly focused on cash conversion and want to see a clear reduction in Revolution Beauty's debt following multiple fundraising rounds.
As of February 28, the group's net debt stood at £24.7 million, compared to a market capitalization of £53.15 million. According to LSEG data, the company holds a combined credit risk score of "1"—a metric indicating a high likelihood of default on obligations within the next year, where a higher score represents lower risk.
To revive the struggling brand, Revolution Beauty brought back founders Tom Allsworth and Adam Minto in August last year, scrapping a previously contemplated sale process. Since their return, the company has focused on aggressive cost-cutting, simplifying operational execution, and renegotiating pricing terms with retail partners.
While other UK beauty brands are leaning into high-stakes physical retail expansions—such as P.Louise's massive experiential flagship—Revolution Beauty's immediate path forward relies on financial discipline and rebuilding retail relationships to regain market confidence.
