Diptyque Unveils Expanded Harrods Counter in London Retail Push

Diptyque has unveiled an expanded retail counter at Harrods in Knightsbridge, bringing its fragrance, candle, bath, and home collections together within a redesigned 27-square-meter space.

The French luxury fragrance house added nine square meters to its previous footprint inside the London department store. Diptyque stated that the redesign reflects its evolving retail identity, guided by the design concept "Imagination Wanders" to encourage multi-category product discovery.

At the center of the Harrods space sits a bespoke 360-degree counter dedicated to Diptyque’s core fragrance and candle categories. Architecturally, brushed oak is paired with marble-inlaid facades, a solid marble countertop, and a structural Corian pyramid.

Terrazzo flooring incorporates embedded fragments of green, red, and brown marble. These materials extend to the payment desk and a secondary counter positioned across the main aisle.

Diptyque’s Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum collections occupy the aisle-facing section, while solid perfumes and solid application formats are stored in pull-out drawers. Above this space, the brand displays Les Essences de Diptyque alongside its Intense range and 34 collection.

The reverse side of the counter is dedicated to home fragrance, anchored by the brand's classic scented candle lineup. Dedicated displays around a structural column house its larger 300-gram and 1.5-kilogram candle formats, framed by tissue-paper gifting presentation shelves above and below.

A custom sculpture by British wrought-iron artisan Richard Hillam serves as the central focal point of the main counter. Finished in patinated bronze, the wrought-iron piece provides an abstract interpretation of a poppy field.

The secondary counter incorporates an archway featuring the Diptyque emblem, a dual Les Essences display, and an interactive area for product testing. Mirrored stainless-steel fixtures are integrated alongside wooden cabinetry to complement Harrods’ broader interior architecture.

Diptyque’s bath and body range sits on one side of the secondary space, counterbalanced by the Les Mondes de Diptyque high-end candle range on the other. Lower shelving units accommodate the remaining home collection, including cold-diffusion fragrance diffusers.

A dedicated gift-wrapping station offers custom stamping for boxes and pouches, elevating the experience for luxury gift shoppers—a retail focus gaining ground across London department stores as retailers unveil high-value beauty calendars and festive edits. Behind the main counter, a column finished in Diptyque’s signature green hue features decorative wall mouldings reminiscent of Parisian apartments.

The Harrods launch reinforces Diptyque’s broader investment in physical retail across London. The expansion follows the brand's temporary Water Garden pop-up on New Bond Street, which highlights its Summer 2026 collection through late August in an environment inspired by its Jardin des Eaux architectural concept. Physical activations are playing an increasingly strategic role in the city, where brands across categories are deploying interactive London retail activations to build direct consumer engagement.
