Japanese Beauty Device Maker Ya-man Swings to Profit in H1 2026
Japanese beauty device maker Ya-man returned to profitability in H1 2026, driven by overseas expansion and a direct-to-consumer pivot in China.
Japanese premium beauty device maker Ya-man Ltd. released its financial results for the six-month period ended June 30, 2026. The company posted net sales of 13.725 billion yen ($86.04 million) and a net profit attributable to owners of the parent of 132 million yen ($827,500), reversing a net loss of 1.196 billion yen ($7.50 million) recorded in the prior-year period.
Due to a fiscal year change effective December 31, 2025, Ya-man shifted its financial year-end from April 30 to December 31. As a result, the prior-year comparison period covers the six months ended October 31, 2025, and year-over-year percentage comparisons were not disclosed.
Overseas operations served as Ya-man's largest revenue contributor during the half-year period. Net sales from international markets reached 5.435 billion yen ($34.07 million), generating an operating profit of 331 million yen ($2.08 million).
In the U.S. market, Ya-man expanded its distribution footprint by partnering with luxury spa operator Rescue Spa and launching retail sales through specialty outlets including Anthropologie.
In China, Ya-man achieved compliance milestones after its radio frequency skin treatment device secured Class III medical device certification from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in June 2025. Concurrently, the company transitioned from a traditional wholesale agency model to a higher-margin direct-to-consumer (B2C) structure. In April 2026, it established a consolidated subsidiary, Ya-man (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd., taking over direct e-commerce channel operations in May 2026. The direct-to-consumer shift reflects broader operational adjustments across Chinese e-commerce, where partners like Lily & Beauty have also restructured to prioritize profitability.
Ya-man noted in its report that bringing China operations direct was intended to improve operating margins and enforce brand control. Initial sales performance was observed during China's mid-year 618 shopping festival. According to market research firm All-View Cloud (AVC), Ya-man recorded total sales of 12.93 million yuan ($1.8 million) between May 25 and June 21, 2026, capturing a 3.3% market share in the category.
Alongside overseas momentum, domestic sales in Japan maintained steady progress. Ya-man reported solid demand for its high-end multi-functional facial device, Ya-man The Miyabi, which integrates proprietary CERTEC and radio frequency technologies. Additionally, its hands-free wireless facial mask, Blue Green Mask Lift, gained traction by addressing domestic demand for targeted facial contouring care.
Across channel segments, home shopping generated 1.191 billion yen ($7.47 million) in net sales and 413 million yen ($2.59 million) in operating profit. Retail store sales reached 3.906 billion yen ($24.49 million) with an operating profit of 1.111 billion yen ($6.97 million), while direct-to-consumer sales delivered 3.019 billion yen ($18.93 million) in revenue and 766 million yen ($4.80 million) in operating profit.
Physical retail outlets played a central role in driving brand engagement for both domestic consumers and inbound tourists. As part of its global retail initiative, Ya-man's Ginza flagship store set a monthly sales record in May 2026.
Despite returning to profitability, Ya-man expressed caution regarding its full-year outlook. The company cited ongoing price inflation and labor shortages in Japan, macroeconomic volatility, potential supply chain disruption from Middle East geopolitical tensions, and changing global trade policies as key factors impacting the beauty and wellness device market. Sustaining profitability across volatile international markets remains the group's chief focus going forward.
